On Tuesday, January 9, 2023, OETA partnered with the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma to host a premiere screening of the latest episode of the three-time Emmy award winning series, “Back in Time”. The episode, entitled “Will Rogers; Oklahoma’s Favorite Son,” premiered on-air on Thursday, January 11.
The Rotary Club of Claremore, OETA, and the museum hosted lunch along with the screening and panel discussion.
The panel discussion, moderated by ‘Back in Time’ producer Robert Burch, included former Executive Director of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, Joe Carter Sr., Will Rogers Interpreter and Creative Curator for the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, Bart Taylor, and great granddaughter of Will Rogers and entrepreneur, Jennifer Rogers-Etcheverry.
The panel members shared their expertise on the enduring legacy of Rogers, who never met a man he didn’t like. After the panel, they answered questions from the attentive audience members. When asked why Will connected with so many around the world, Bart Taylor responded it was his character traits of “Empathy, humor, wit, and kindness” that was so influential both then and now.
The episode will continue to be broadcasted on OETA’s statewide network and can be found on all streaming platforms through the PBS App and on the OETA website.
