New Board Leadership

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) has announced the appointment of new governing board and philanthropic support board leadership.

Lisa Greenlee of Altus has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of OETA. Greenlee was nominated to the OETA Board of Directors by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and confirmed by the Oklahoma Senate in 2020 where she represents the 3rd Congressional District. Greenlee will be the 26th individual to lead OETA’s Board since the agency was established in 1953. She succeeds Terri Cornett of Oklahoma City in the role.

A PBS member station, OETA is an instrumentality of the State of Oklahoma and is funded by state, federal, and private resources. OETA maintains an extensive statewide network of 4 transmitting stations and 14 translator stations that provide information to over 650,000 viewers each week. Additionally, OETA is responsible for maintaining the state’s infrastructure for the PBS Warning, Alert and Response Network (WARN) system, which provides a path between the Federal Emergency Management Agency and cellular service providers to relay important emergency information statewide via cellular networks.

Garrett King of Weatherford has been elected President of the Board of Directors of The Friends Of OETA, Inc. In 2015, King was nominated by Governor Mary Fallin and confirmed by the Oklahoma Senate to represent the 3rd Congressional District of Oklahoma on the OETA Board of Directors. King went on to serve three consecutive terms as Chair of the Board, departing in 2019 upon the accession of Greenlee to his Board seat. King was named to The Friends Of OETA, Inc. Board of Directors in 2021. He succeeds Robert Spinks of Oklahoma City as leader of the Friends Board.

The Friends of OETA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that exists to raise funds and support the activities and programs of OETA by receiving, investing, managing, and expending non-state-appropriated funds and properties. The Oklahoma Legislature authorized OETA to partner with such a charity beginning in 1982.

“So many generous, prudent leaders have helped to shape OETA into America’s most-watched PBS station and one of the most trusted institutions in Oklahoma state,” said OETA Executive Director Ms. Polly Anderson. “OETA and Friends of OETA, Inc. are fortunate to be served by dedicated, generous Oklahomans like Lisa Greenlee and Garrett King.”

Greenlee is a retired educator, serving 35 years in public education, career tech and higher education. Most recently, she was the first female Vice President of Academic Affairs at Western Oklahoma State College (WOSC). She began working at WOSC as a business faculty member in 1996, then served as the Director of the Business Information Systems Division, the Dean of Arts and Sciences and Chief Academic Officer.

A dedicated civic and community volunteer, Greenlee serves or has served on the Altus Military Affairs Committee and the boards of the Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain and the General Tommy Franks Institute. She is a recipient of Altus Air Force Base’s highest civilian honor, The Friend of Altus recognition.
