OETA Wins a Heartland Chapter Emmy® Award
Gallery America Wins Best Arts/Entertainment Award
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – OETA has been honored with a Heartland Chapter EMMY® Award for its arts/entertainment program, Gallery America: Joe Slack, Iron Man. The recipients of the award are Robert Reid (writer/host) and David Tamez (producer).
The segment features Oklahoma City artist Joe Slack. His large, abstract sculptures of steel transform public spaces across the city. Slack's latest and largest project—a mural of steel birds and dancers—fills a median wall in Midtown that stretches over two football fields in length. The full episode is available to stream at OETA.tv/GalleryAmerica.
“I am extremely proud of Robert, Dave and everyone at OETA for their hard work and dedication,” states Polly Anderson, executive director. “As members of public media, we are mission-driven to provide outstanding educational programming for Oklahomans. And, it takes a team to produce award-winning programming like Gallery America. I’d also like to acknowledge our subject, Joe Slack, and his outstanding public art installations.”
