After witnessing a murder, saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his pal, Jerry (Jack Lemmon), improvise a quick plan to escape from Chicago. After disguising themselves as women, they join a female jazz band and head to Florida. While Joe pretends to be a millionaire to win over the band's singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe), his friend Jerry finds himself pursued by a real millionaire as things heat up and the murders close in.

After a long prison sentence Smiler Grogan (Jimmy Durante) is heading at high speed to a California park where he hid hundreds of thousands of dollars 15 years previously. He accidentally careens over a cliff in view of four cars whose occupants go down to help. The dying Grogan gives details of where the money is buried and when the witnesses fail to agree on sharing the cash, a wild chase develops across the state.

In a distant galaxy, planet Spaceball has been depleted its air supply, leaving the citizens reliant on "Perri-Air." In desperation, Spaceball's President Skroob (Mel Brooks) orders the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) to kidnap Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) of Druidia and hold her hostage in exchange for more air. Help eventually arrives for the Princess as team formed by renegade space pilot Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his half-man, half-dog partner, Barf (John Candy).

Con artist Lawrence Jamieson (Michael Caine) is a longtime resident of a coastal resort, where he enjoys the fruits of his deceptions -- that is, until a competitor, Freddy Benson (Steve Martin), shows up. When the new guy's tactics impinge on his own work, Jamieson resolves to get rid of him. Confident of his own deceitful talents, Jamieson challenges Benson to a winner-takes-all competition: whoever swindles $50,000 from a young heiress first can stay, while the other must leave town.
